Jeanne MECHIN, his future wife, is born in France.

1633   (approximate date) Guillaume PEPIN arrives in New France,
           settles in the area that was to become Trois-Rivieres.

1634   Samuel de Champlain founds the settlement of Trois-Rivieres.
           Guillaume PEPIN is considered a founding father of that city. 

1642  The first mention of Guillaume in a Canadian document,
           a contract which details the auction of Jean NICOLET's goods.

1645  June 16, Jean MECHIN, Guillaume's future Father-in-Law,
          signed a contract in La Rochelle, France, to work as a plowman,
          laborer and sailor for Pierre Legargeur in Canada.

(August 12?) Marriage to Jeanne MECHIN, age 15.
           At this time Guilliaume is 35 years old, marriage was probably
           in
Trois-Rivieres, where they bring up 13 children.

1646  Novenber 6, Jean MECHIN, Guillaume's Father-in-Law drowned
          while sailing toward Trois-Rivieres, it being too late in the year
           for safe sailing.

PEPIN is elected several times representative
          of the of the people of Trois-Rivieres at the Sovereign Council
          of New France.

16??  Guillaume PEPIN is given several land concessions. He also
           buys land
in Nicolet, Cap-de-la-Madeleine, Champlain,
           Lac-St-Pierre and also
in Trois-Rivieres where he resided
           for most of his life.

1651  Guillaume PEPIN is assigned for 4 years as judge in the seigniory
          of Champlain. He also serves as MAYOR of Trois-Riviers during
          this decade.

1652  August 18, Many settlers die in an Iroquois ambush, among them
          the Governor of Trois-Riviers, but Guillaume PEPIN, a shop owner
          in Trois-Rivieres,  survives.

1679  HIs wife, Jeanne MECHIN, was living in 1679,
          according to a notary act, but she dies before the
          1681 census... relatively young, somewhere near 50.

1681  CENSUS: Guillaume PEPIN is listed as 70 years old and living
          alone.He had a gun, three head of cattle, and thirty tillable arpents.
              ( Arpent= approx. 3418.9 square meters or about 0.845 acres)

1697  August, Guillaume PEPIN dies approximately 90 years of age,
          while living along the St-Lawrence River in the home of his son
          Pierre
PEPIN dit LaFORCE, at Pointe-aux-Sables.
          His body is taken across the river to the
Trois-Rivieres cemetery.

CHILDREN:
         Three of Guillaume's sons made voyages of discovery into the
         heartland of this continent. Pierre Pepin who explored Wisconsin
         and Minnesota left his name on lake Pepin, a wide area in the
         Mississippi below Red Wing, Minnesota. On the east side of this
         lake is Pepin County, Wisconsin.
