And his Native wife
MARGUERITE MARCHAND  Guardian of North American Native Mitochondrial DNS to pass on to daughters  born approx. 1815 in the "North West"

Francois Xavier BOUVETTE b. 1796

and marry a Metis (Native) Woman, Marguerite MARCHAND b1815.
All the descendants are Native (some say "of varying degrees").

Edited version of Grandma's Girls by Ayla Z "BOUVETTE"
Guardian of North American Native Mitochondrial DNS to pass on to daughters When you see this symbol you will know that the Woman alongside whose name this symbol appears is carrying North American Native Mitochondrial DNA which she will pass on to all her children. Her Daughters' names are also marked with this symbol, as each new generation of Women has the power to pass the Native MtDNA to their children. The significance of this is that MtDNA is passed down as an unaltered living entity, unlike nuclear DNA which is a combination of material from both the Male and Female parent.
We carry the life of our Ancestors in every cell of our body. In the Case of an unbroken Native Maternal line, we are the Guardians of our Native Ancestors, they live in us in a very real way. This symbol Guardian of North American Native Mitochondrial DNS to pass on to daughters is marking an unbroken line of unaltered MtDNA that flows from the beginning of life on this Continent, along the Maternal line, into our Modern world.

From our WEBKEEPER Ayla:
Why AYLA Z uses the name AYLA BOUVETTE
on her METIS ART, and other places:

1) My Mother's birth last name was not from a
          Nati
ve, it is not suitable

2) My Grandma's birth last name was BOUVETTE
from a METIS father
3) My Great Grandma's birth last name was not
from a Native, is not suitable
4) My Gr-Great Grandma's Family was
NATIVE BC INDIAN BACK TO THE BEGINNING
...they had no "last name" to use.

So the only suitable last name in my heritage is
the Metis name BOUVETTE.
